NAGAAA Celebration

Over 100 in Attendance for NAGAAA Celebration

WHAT A TURNOUT! Looks like over 100 players and friends showed up for the NAGAAA celebration. It was so nice to see everyone together and having fun again. Thanks to everyone who attended. Open bars are a difficult place for open forums but it worked. We had three or four new players show up! It was a nice evening and a success…well except for the Dancing DVD. We tested the DVD earlier that evening and it worked fine and as you could see it started out fine again but then it starting dancing and looping. Again thanks for making our Second Sunday Softball Social a HUGE success! We have one of the best leagues in the country because of the great people in our league! Tribe was a very good host with the event and happy with the outcome.

Nashville Players 5th out of 21 in Orlando Meltdown January 17 & 18

The Nashville Players placed 5th out of 21 teams in the Orlando Meltdown Tournament. This was the teams first tournament of the year and this was a much better finish than last season. The Players are in their second year of existence and are already getting known and respected on the national level. 13 players and two supports made the journey south for the festivities. In the first game of the round robin on a great hit Bruce the teams top sluggers went down with a ruptured Achilles. He is scheduled for an MRI Thursday so lets all be thinking positive thoughts for Bruce. After round Robin the players were seated 5th in the tournament. This gave the team a boost of energy knowing that last year they were close to the bottom and this year they were close to the top. The team shows great promise and is looking forward to Tampa in three weeks where they will get another shot at a few of the Florida Teams, Philly, New York, and Birmingham.

MNSA PLAYERS COMPLETE PHOENIX MARATHON

MNSA representation was strong at the PF Chang’s Rock –N- Roll Half-Marathon in Phoenix, AZ on January 18, 2009. The temperature at the start of the race was ideal conditions in the high 40s. However, the course quickly began to heat up. By the end of the race, the temperature was over 70 degrees.

Speaking of heating up, Rick (aka Double R) set the hot pace for the MNSA group. He has proven he is the one to beat. He completed his first half-marathon in an astonishing time of 1:57:04. That is a pace of 9 minutes per mile. Barry (also from the Players team) was not far behind Rick. Barry beat his previous time by more than 31 minutes finishing in 1:59:57. Barry had a little scare that he did not meet his goal of breaking 2 hrs when the unofficial time showed he did not make it by 11 seconds. Congratulations to Barry for breaking the 2 hr barrier. Beth from the Sizzle also set a person best despite having some knee issues on the course. She ran 2:23:51, about 5 minutes better than her previous best. Some of you may know Barry’s bf, Josh. He too completed his first half-marathon. Although he did not train much, he had a great time of 2:32:06. Bringing up the rear of the MNSA pack was Dean (from TIME). Despite having back surgery 27 days prior, he still broke the three hours barrier with a time of 2:56:41.

Everyone had a great time and we hope to get more MNSA runners to make the trip to Phoenix next year. Look for everyone in the Country Music Half-Marathon coming in Nashville on April 25th.

Brainstorming Session.

For our NAGAAA presentation we are planning on having a home-made Hee Haw Presentation. We are going to have a ball preparing this; however, this is going to be a challenge here at Christmas and new years to get it filmed and put together. We want to present the finished product at our second Sunday Softball Social on January 13th at TRIBE. This blog is being created to share ideas so that we can have a central place to log our ideas about this production.

Our plans are around a 10 minute Hee haw production…with some canned music and some live production. We plan on using Guitars, banjos, Drummer, keyboards, etc. post your ideas here. If you want to be a part of the production shoot us an email at commissioner@metronashvillesoftball.org.

There will be props needed for the production if you have anything that could e of help please let us know. Gallon Jugs like moonshine was put in. Bib overalls, hay, straw hats etc. Be thinking about where we can find any of this stuff. Also if you know of where there is a cornfield that was not cut down we are going to need a cornfield for the salutes!

Song Idea #1: Can't you just hear a song to the tune of Gloom, Despair and Agony on Me...

Winter weather agonizes me. Deep, dark depression, excessive misery. If it weren't for softball I'd have no friends at all, oh winter weather agonizes me.

Now that we are started with this blog please give us some ideas!
